Take in all the landscapes
We highly recommend that you try your best to explore all of the diverse landscapes that Europe has to offer. Beaches where you can relax, art that you can enjoy and of course food that you can indulge in; Europe has a whole host of places for you to explore and things you can enjoy.
Don’t be afraid to walk off the beaten path
Whilst it is great to see some of the popular tourist destinations in Europe such as Paris, Barcelona and Rome there are also amazing things to see if you take a deep breath and go off the path most travelled. Europe is full of fascinating towns and villages that will really capture your imagination and may just become you most favoured destination of the future.
Try to bag the window seat
If the option is open to you, accept a window seat. This will allow you a way to view some of the beautiful landscapes around you (albeit at a rather impressive speed). The world may be flying past you, but by accepting a window seat you can take everything in whilst relaxing and unwinding.
Avoid reservations
Whilst for some trains the need to pay an additional reservation cost is unavoidable, you will be pleased to know that you can cut down on these fees by opting for slower, regional services as and when you can.
Should I plan every moment?
Not everyone likes the idea of planning a trip to every single minute; so for those who want a splash of flexibility and spontaneity in their trip, Eurail is ideal. It allows you space to do your own thing, whilst still staying on track for some of your planned destinations.
You can even hop off
Following on from the above point, Eurail gives you the chance to stop off at a variety of different stations that provide lockers for you to store your luggage. This means that you can simply get off, stretch your legs and spend a few hours (or maybe a night) exploring a new town or city.
The Eurail pass is also flexible meaning that you can travel as your mood suits you.
You may be able to explore the city too
Some different cities allow you to use your Eurail pass to get around, saving you money on urban public transport. It is important to check this at the train station however, just to make sure if there are any restrictions on your travel.
Take advantage of high speed train extras
Some of the high speed trains offer great perks for those who are happy to pay for 1st class travel. In fact, by doing this for at least some of your journey you can enjoy a spacious carriage as well as a meal; saving you money and giving you the chance to relax.
Try out the night train
There are going to be some journeys on the Eurail that take longer than others, when this crops up it is a great opportunity to try the night train. Not only is it a pretty awesome experience but it means you can sleep whilst you travel, saving money on a hotel or hostel.
Go regional
As we have already pointed out, regional trains can save money at points. Not only this but they allow you to take in some of the hidden gems of the area that you may only see as distant spot from the high speed alternatives.
